Ingredients

For the Steak

  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Bowl

  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup cucumber slices
  • 1 cup shredded purple cabbage
  • 1/2 cup corn kernels
  • 1/4 cup green onions sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

For the Sauce

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha sauce

Instructions

Prepare the steak seasoning

  • Pat the steak dry using paper towels before seasoning. Mix garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Rub the seasoning evenly across both sides of the steak for bold savory flavor during cooking.

Cook the rice

  • Prepare jasmine rice according to package instructions while the steak marinates slightly. Fluffy rice creates the perfect base for the bowl because it absorbs sauce beautifully while balancing the rich steak and crunchy vegetables.

Heat the skillet

  • Place a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and allow it to warm properly. A hot pan helps create beautiful caramelized edges on the steak while keeping the inside juicy and tender.

Cook the steak

  • Place the seasoned steak into the hot skillet carefully. Cook each side for about four to five minutes depending on thickness. The steak should develop golden brown crust while remaining tender and flavorful inside after resting properly.

Let the steak rest

  • Transfer the cooked steak onto a cutting board and allow it to rest for several minutes. Resting helps the juices stay inside the meat instead of leaking out while slicing later for the steak bowls.

Prepare the sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk mayonnaise, soy sauce, lime juice, honey and sriracha together until smooth. The creamy sauce adds sweet, tangy, savory flavor while tying all the bowl ingredients together beautifully during serving time.

Slice the steak carefully

  • Using a sharp knife, slice the rested steak into thin strips against the grain. Cutting against the grain keeps the steak tender and easier to chew while creating restaurant-style presentation for the finished homemade bowls.

Assemble the bowls

  • Divide cooked rice between serving bowls evenly. Arrange steak slices, avocado, carrots, cucumbers, cabbage and corn neatly over the rice. Colorful ingredients make the bowls look fresh, vibrant and incredibly appetizing for family dinners.

Add sauce and toppings

  • Drizzle the creamy sauce generously over each steak bowl before serving. Sprinkle green onions and sesame seeds on top for extra flavor and texture. Serve immediately while the steak remains warm and juicy for best results.

Notes

  • Use grilled chicken instead of steak
  • Add edamame for extra protein
  • Try brown rice for hearty texture
  • Slice steak thinly for tenderness
  • Let steak rest before cutting
  • Add spicy jalapeƱos for heat
  • Use fresh lime juice for best flavor
