For the Cake

  • All-purpose flour – 2 cups
  • Baking powder – 1 tablespoon
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon
  • Unsalted butter – 1 cup softened
  • Sugar – 1 ½ cups
  • Eggs – 4 large
  • Vanilla extract – 2 teaspoons
  • Milk – 1 cup

For the Cream Filling

  • Heavy whipping cream – 1 cup
  • Powdered sugar – ½ cup
  • Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
  • Cream cheese – 4 ounces softened

For the Frosting

  • Whipped cream – 1 cup
  • Powdered sugar – ¼ cup
  • Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon

Instructions
  

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 pan and set it aside.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside for later use.

Cream Butter and Sugar

  • In a mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. It should look light and smooth.

Add Eggs and Vanilla

  • Add eggs one at a time. Then add vanilla. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Add Dry and Wet Mix

  • Add dry ingredients in parts. Alternate with milk. Mix gently until smooth.

Pour Batter in Pan

  • Pour batter into the prepared pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake the Cake

  • Bake for 25 minutes. Cake should be golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool the Cake

  • Let the cake cool completely. This prevents the filling from melting.

Make the Cream Filling

  • Beat cream cheese, whipped cream, powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix until thick.

Fill the Cake

  • Cut the cake in half. Spread filling on top. Then place the top layer back.

Make the Frosting

  • Whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla. Spread over the cake.

Chill Before Serving

  • Chill for 1 hour. This helps the cake set and taste better.
