Ingredients

  • 1 kg pork shoulder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 cup coleslaw optional
  • 1 tablespoon mustard optional

Instructions

Prepare the Pork

  • Start by cleaning the pork shoulder. Pat it dry with paper towels. Rub salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder all over the meat. This step adds flavor and helps create a rich taste later.

Cook the Pork

  • Place the seasoned pork into a slow cooker. Add half of the barbecue sauce. Cover and cook on low heat for about 6 hours. The meat should become very soft and easy to shred.

Shred the Meat

  • Remove the cooked pork from the cooker. Place it on a board. Use two forks to shred the meat into small pieces. It should pull apart easily. Add the remaining barbecue sauce and mix well.

Prepare the Rolls

  • Take the Hawaiian rolls and slice them in half horizontally. Keep the top and bottom connected if possible. This makes it easier to assemble the sliders later.

Fill the Sliders

  • Place the bottom half of the rolls in a baking dish. Spread the pulled pork evenly over them. Add coleslaw if you like. Then place the top half of the rolls over the filling.

Add Butter Glaze

  • In a small bowl, mix melted butter and honey. Brush this mixture over the top of the rolls. This step gives a shiny, slightly sweet finish after baking.

Bake the Sliders

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Cover the dish with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes until golden on top.

Serve Warm

  • Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly. Slice into individual sliders and serve warm. Enjoy the soft bread and juicy filling in every bite.

Notes

  • Use chicken instead of pork for a lighter option
  • Add cheese for extra richness
  • Use spicy barbecue sauce for more heat
  • Toast the rolls lightly before filling
  • Add pickles for a tangy crunch
  • Use homemade coleslaw for fresh flavor
