Ingredients
  

  • 500 g plain flour
  • 1 packet 7g instant yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 300 ml warm milk
  • 50 g butter softened
  • 1 egg beaten for glaze

Instructions
  

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • Combine flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a large mixing bowl. Stir well.

Add Milk and Butter

  • Pour warm milk into the dry mix. Add soft butter. Mix to form a dough.

Knead the Dough

  • Turn dough onto a floured surface. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

First Dough Rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover with a towel. Let it rise 1 hour until doubled.

Divide the Dough

  • Punch dough lightly. Divide into 12 equal pieces for small rolls.

Shape the Rolls

  • Roll each piece into a round ball. Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment.

Second Rise

  • Cover rolls with a towel. Let them rise 30 minutes until slightly puffy.

Preheat Oven

  • Set oven to 200°C/180°C fan. Ensure it is fully hot before baking.

Brush with Egg Glaze

  • Brush beaten egg over rolls to make them shiny and golden.

Bake the Rolls

  • Bake rolls for 18–20 minutes until golden brown. Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use whole milk for a richer flavor.
  • Add 1 tsp cinnamon or herbs for extra taste.
  • Replace butter with olive oil for a lighter version.
