Ingredients

  • 175 grams unsalted butter softened
  • 175 grams caster sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 175 grams self-raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 medium apples peeled and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon optional
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Extra sugar for topping optional

Instructions

Prepare the Oven and Tin

  • Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease your cake tin with butter. Line it with baking paper for easy removal.

Prepare the Apples

  • Peel and chop apples into small pieces. Keep them aside. This helps them mix evenly in the batter.

Cream Butter and Sugar

  • In a bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This step makes the cake soft and airy.

Add Eggs

  • Add eggs one by one. Mix well after each egg. If it curdles, add a spoon of flour.

Add Vanilla and Milk

  • Add vanilla extract and milk. Mix gently. This adds moisture and flavor to the cake.

Add Dry Ingredients

  • Sift flour and baking powder into the bowl. Fold gently using a spatula. Do not overmix.

Add Apples

  • Add chopped apples to the batter. Mix lightly so apples are spread evenly.

Pour into Tin

  • Pour batter into prepared tin. Smooth the top gently with a spatula.

Add Cinnamon (Optional)

  • Sprinkle cinnamon on top if you like. It gives a warm and sweet flavor.

Bake the Cake

  • Bake for 40–45 minutes. The cake should be golden and firm on top.

Check Doneness

  • Insert a toothpick in the center. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready.

Cool the Cake

  • Let the cake cool in the tin for 10 minutes. Then move it to a rack.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Slice and serve warm or cold. It tastes great with tea or coffee.

Notes

  • Use sweet apples for better taste
  • Add raisins for extra sweetness
  • Use brown sugar for deeper flavor
  • Add nuts like walnuts for crunch
  • Sprinkle sugar on top before baking
  • Serve with custard or cream
  • Store apples evenly for better texture
