Ingredients

  • 400 g spaghetti
  • 400 g minced beef
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 carrot grated
  • 1 celery stick chopped
  • 400 g canned tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • Fresh basil optional
  • Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Vegetables

  • Chop onion, garlic, carrot and celery. Make them small and even. This helps them cook evenly and blend into the sauce later.

Heat the Pan

  • Add olive oil to a large pan. Heat it on medium flame. The oil should be warm but not smoking.

Cook the Vegetables

  • Add onion, garlic, carrot and celery. Cook for about 5–7 minutes. Stir often until soft and slightly golden.

Add the Minced Beef

  • Put the minced beef into the pan. Break it apart using a spoon. Cook until it turns brown. Make sure there are no pink parts left.

Add Seasoning

  • Add salt, pepper and oregano. Stir well so the flavors mix into the meat. This gives the sauce a rich taste.

Add Tomatoes and Paste

  • Pour in canned tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir everything together. The sauce will start to look rich and red.

Add Stock

  • Pour in beef stock slowly. Stir well. This helps create a smooth and thick sauce. Let it come to a gentle simmer.

Slow Cook the Sauce

  • Let the sauce cook on low heat for 45 minutes. Stir occasionally. The sauce will become thick and full of flavor.

Cook the Spaghetti

  • Boil water in a pot. Add salt and spaghetti. Cook until soft but firm. Drain using a colander.

Combine and Serve

  • Mix spaghetti with the bolognese sauce. Stir gently. Serve hot with fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • Cook sauce longer for deeper flavor
  • Add red wine for richer taste
  • Use mixed meats for better texture
  • Add mushrooms for extra flavor
  • Use fresh herbs for stronger aroma
  • Do not rush the simmering step
