Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg chicken wings
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder

For the sauce:

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce optional
  • 1 teaspoon garlic minced

Instructions
  

Prepare the Chicken Wings

  • First wash the chicken wings under cold water. Pat them dry with paper towels. Dry wings cook better and turn crispy. Place them in a large mixing bowl.

Season the Wings

  • Add olive oil, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder and chili powder. Mix well so every wing gets coated. This simple seasoning adds great flavor before the sauce.

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper or foil. This makes cleaning easier later.

Arrange the Wings

  • Place the wings on the baking tray in a single layer. Do not overlap them. Giving space helps the wings cook evenly and become crispy.

Bake the Wings

  • Put the tray into the hot oven. Bake for about 20 minutes first. After that, flip the wings using tongs. Bake another 20 minutes until golden.

Make the Sauce

  • While the wings cook, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan combine ketchup, honey, brown sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, mustard, garlic and hot sauce. Stir everything together.

Simmer the Sauce

  • Place the saucepan over medium heat. Cook the sauce for about 5 minutes. Stir often so it does not burn. The sauce will thicken slightly.

Coat the Wings

  • When the wings are crispy, remove them from the oven. Place them in a bowl. Pour the warm sauce over them. Toss gently until every wing is coated.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Transfer the wings to a serving platter. Sprinkle a little fresh parsley if you like. Serve immediately while they are hot and sticky.

Notes

  • Pat wings completely dry before seasoning. This helps them crisp better.
  • Add a little baking powder to the seasoning for extra crispiness.
  • Use an air fryer for quicker cooking.
  • Add more hot sauce for spicier wings.
  • Try barbecue sauce instead of honey sauce.
  • Add crushed garlic for stronger flavor.
  • Serve with ranch or blue cheese dip.
