Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 egg

Instructions

Cook the Lasagna Noodles

  • Boil water in a large pot. Add a pinch of salt. Cook the lasagna noodles until soft but firm. Drain them and set aside. Place them flat to prevent sticking.

Prepare the Meat Sauce

  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until soft. Add garlic and cook briefly. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Stir well.

Add Tomato Sauce and Spices

  • Pour in the tomato sauce. Add salt, pepper, oregano and basil. Mix everything well. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes. This builds a rich and tasty sauce.

Prepare Ricotta Mixture

  • In a bowl, add ricotta cheese and one egg. Mix until smooth. Add a little salt and pepper. This mixture gives the lasagna a creamy texture.

Preheat the Oven

  • Set your oven to 180°C (350°F). This ensures even cooking. While the oven heats, you can start layering the lasagna.

Start Layering

  • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the baking dish. Place noodles on top. Add ricotta mixture, then mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers carefully.

Finish the Top Layer

  • End with a layer of meat sauce. Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top. This creates a golden and bubbly crust.

Bake the Lasagna

  • Cover the dish with foil. Bake for 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes. The top should be golden and melted.

Let It Rest

  • Take the lasagna out of the oven. Let it rest for 10 minutes before cutting. This helps the layers hold together.

Notes

  • Use fresh herbs for better flavor
  • Add spinach for a healthy twist
  • Replace beef with chicken or vegetables
  • Use no-boil noodles for faster cooking
  • Add chili flakes if you like heat
  • Mix cottage cheese with ricotta for a lighter option
