Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: sliced onions or pickles

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Set your oven to 180°C (350°F). Let it heat fully before baking. This ensures the sliders cook evenly and the cheese melts perfectly.

Prepare the Chicken

  • Take cooked chicken and shred it into small pieces. Place it in a bowl. Add BBQ sauce and mix well until the chicken is fully coated.

Slice the Rolls

  • Keep the rolls connected and slice them in half horizontally. Do not separate them yet. This makes it easier to assemble the sliders.

Layer the Bottom Half

  • Place the bottom half of the rolls in a baking dish. Spread the BBQ chicken mixture evenly over the bread. Make sure every part is covered.

Add Cheese Layer

  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the chicken. The cheese melts and holds everything together. It adds a creamy and rich texture.

Add Optional Toppings

  • If you like extra flavor, add onions or pickles. These give a nice crunch and balance the sweetness of the rolls.

Cover with Top Rolls

  • Place the top half of the rolls over the filling. Press gently to keep everything together. The sliders should look neat and compact.

Brush with Butter

  • Mix melted butter with garlic powder and pepper. Brush this mixture over the top of the rolls. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

Bake the Sliders

  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 5 minutes. The tops should turn golden.

Serve Warm

  • Take the sliders out of the oven. Let them cool slightly. Slice into individual pieces and serve warm. They taste soft, juicy and delicious.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken for quick preparation
  • Add coleslaw for crunch
  • Use spicy BBQ sauce for heat
  • Try different cheeses like pepper jack
  • Add bacon for extra flavor
  • Use whole wheat rolls for a healthier option
